About the Event

2017 Endurance for Veterans Face-Off
June 10, 2017
Our goal is to reduce the number of veterans who take their own lives by providing he opportunity to heal and rehabilitate through physical fitness

Welcome to the 2nd Annual Endurance for Veterans Face-off! All proceeds from this event will go directly to Endurance for Veterans and will be used to help fund a study analyzing the impact physical fitness has on PTSD symptoms. This event will be held at the Bubble in East WIndsor, CT and is supported by CrossFit Blue Diamond, CrossFit Hartford, and CrossFit Dragon City. This will be a will be a SAME SEX, partner event with RX, Scaled, and Adaptive Athlete divisions! Cost to enter follows:

Early bird registration will end on May 10, 2017

Early Bird: $135
Regular: $155

We also have additional discounts for adaptive athletes and athletes who competed last year:
Athletes who competed last year: $125
Adaptive Athlete Early Bird: $65
Adaptive Athlete Regular: $75

After you register for the event, you will be directed to another site for payment or have the option to take advantage of competing for free by participating in Team E4V!

In lieu of paying out of pocket, athletes will have the option to fundraise for Endurance for Veterans. Participating teams will agree to meet a fundraising goal and if they meet or exceed that goal, entry is free. We will provide you a unique fundraising page, which you can personalize with pictures and text. The page is easily integrated with social media so you can share your story with your friends! Endurance for Veterans offers a chance to reconnect to the community, build confidence and establish a sense of pride. Whether it's providing CrossFit memberships, coach and trainer certification or help accomplish a life-long physical aspiration, Endurance for Veterans will help achieve that goal.

WODs

The 2nd Annual Endurance for Veterans Face-Off will be a SAME SEX partner competition held on June 10, 2017. All proceeds raised from this event will go directly to Endurance for Veterans and will be used to help fund a study analyzing the impact physical fitness has on PTSD symptoms.

There will be 3 guaranteed workouts plus the final for the top 3 teams in RX and Masters divisions. Workouts will be released on our Facebook page as we get closer to the event.

***Adaptive Athlete***

The adaptive athlete division will be a team event consisting of one adaptive athlete and one athlete who is not adaptive. We're currently only considering physical disabilities as criteria for an adaptive athlete. Regardless of physical disability, adaptive athletes will compete against each other, but the wods will be scaled based on the following criteria:

  • Upper Extremity
  • Lower Extremity
  • Seated
  • Neuromuscular (e.g. CP, ALS, non-seated SCI, progressive MLS)
  • Minor Neuromuscular Impairments (mild CP, relapsing remitting MS, limb salvage may all fit this category)

STANDARDS

RX:

  • Should be comfortable with all barbell movements at 135/95
  • Toes to Bar
  • Double Unders
  • Box Jumps 24/20
  • Handstand Walks
  • Kettle Bell swings at 53 lbs/35 lbs

Scaled:

  • Should be comfortable with all barbell movements at 95/65
  • Sit-Ups
  • Single Unders
  • Step Ups 24/20
  • Lunges
  • Kettle Bell swings at 35 lbs/26 lbs

Adaptive Athlete (One Division):

Adaptive athlete movements will follow similar standards, but scaled based off the following categories:

  • Upper Extremity
  • Lower Extremity
  • Seated
  • Neuromuscular (e.g. CP, ALS, non-seated SCI, progressive MLS)
  • Minor Neuromuscular Impairments (mild CP, relapsing remitting MS, limb salvage may all fit this category)
